Data Processing Manager -- Created the Data Processing Department and managed it as
the company grew from a non automated $10 million per year manufacturing company to a
highly automated $60 million company with four locations.
Researched, negotiated, and implemented an HP-3000 minicomputer with Material Requirements
Planning (MRP) software -- including 100.0% source code. Implemented a Local Area Network
(LAN) and interfaced its' 150 PCs with the minicomputer. Researched, specified and
implemented microwave, 900 MHz, fiber optic, and telecommunications technology on a Wide
Area Network (WAN) to accommodate company site expansions. Maintained availability of
services at 99.8% during business hours -- averaging 4 daytime hours of unscheduled
downtime per year.
Management duties consisted of database administration, change management and revision
control for computer programs, documentation of systems and procedures, maintenance
contracts, off site backups and disaster recovery planning, hiring authority, staff
management, and training of personnel. Responsibilities also included selection of
vendors, justification, negotiation, and placement of purchase orders for computer related
products and services.
